But what you don't seem to get is that the water level went down because it displaced more water when on the boat , so when throwed in to the water displaced less volume then when it was on the boat. That is why the water level went down not up.
I should have specified that size is a factor too , my bad .
I think Succubus doesn't want to admit that he was wrong.

But with this problem you have answered your question , that shape does matter.
It’s not shape, it’s volume, which is a combination of both dimension and shape.
