I'm studying Comercial Navigation , I saied that they are simple because we don't need to go as deep as a scientist but are a lot of things to learn like Navigation( Estimated, Astrological, Radar , Integrated), Meteorology , Ships Stability , Ships Dynamics , Navigation equipment , Maritime Law , Mathematics and Physics , is's like an all in one profesion.

The Navy has strict standards for advancement. The course was required for officers to advance and it wasn't a gimme. Seems they like keeping their ships afloat. (Or at least sinking on demand rather than accidentally.)

Presumably that means the navy has developed an innovative way to use foreign merchant ships in busy sea lanes as tools to adjust the exact displacements of its Arleigh Burke class destroyers,
