If there is no supernatural God, then the gods that exist are us but orienting towards yourself is boring (you always have yourself) and you will be bored and begin to hate yourself, so seek to get married and make your partner your god, the one you value most, even a lot more then yourself.
That is my suggestion.
Did you know that it is possible to maintain humility even without belief in any god? True fact. I actually conceptualize a 'totality of myself' of which I can only ever be a part. What's more I think this part of consciousness is still consciousness, it just isn't subservient to me. (The situation is actually reversed.) I can look to this inner resource for inspiration and understanding with respect and appreciation. However it cannot offer me (or it) the lie of eternal life. It does judge my actions, which I apprehend by feeling as my moral sense or conscience. (Those things aren't consciously constructed, only discovered.)
So you see there is very little lost by abandoning the objective, external, eternal, yada yada yada god. Just the lie that the rain drop is not reabsorbed by the river in the end. Give up the illusion of your separateness and there is actually nothing lost.
