Every time he murders people for their supposed corruption, more corruption eventually takes place and he needs to do it again later. What a stupid character. So if the Bible is fake history, what's your problem?
In reality, there is no evidence any of those city or planet wide god murders happened, so also never.
I keep having to explain this to people, but:
The bible is taken as fact by millions. So I have to deal with it on that level.
The bible, even if not taken as fact, is part of western culture. There are references in songs, movies, tv, books, paintings, restaurant names, etc. I like understanding my culture, so knowing the bible and it's stories are still important, even though it's mostly fictional.
I put the same stock in knowing other important cultural things. For instance, I have read many classic books (Frankenstein, Moby Dick, Pride and Prejudice, and so forth), and watched the old movies that are still referenced today (like Casablanca, Citizen Kane, The Maltese Falcon, REar Window, and so forth).
Discussing the characters in the bible is not different from discussing the character in Harry Potter, or Star Wars. I take an interest in it all. I think knowing things and discussing them with others is preferable to not.
