Leaving everything as it was still would have made no difference. Muslim nations around Israel like Iran and Syria including terrorist organizations like Hammas, and including the Palestinians themselves have been denying Israel's right to exist all along. Moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem and recognizing it as the capital of Israel wouldn't have changed those attitudes. As far as our U.S. embassies coming under threats of attacks and violence by Islamic terrorists, they were always coveted targets of terrorists. That wasn't going to change either....and it wouldn't have lessened terrorist attacks and planned attacks throughout Europe and the U.S. had everything stayed the way it was.
