One lead to more consciousness while the other lead to less consciousness.
More consciousness open one s mind and let you understand who is behind our soul.

Yes, we should be more like god, and just go back to killing each other whenever there's a problem. Forget exploring the universe, and curing diseases on a wide scale, and making this life as healthy and wealthy as possible. He doesn't care about us, and our persuits. Only how much we're fawning over him. Is it any wonder people think this character is an asshole?
