That's what it has traditionally been, but I think there are modern-day detractors of feminism who say it's gone too far. Hence the filmmaker mentioned in the OP eschews feminism in its current form and seeks equality among the sexes via the men's rights movement. I haven't seen the film, but I've heard of it and this is my best inference.
In my view, feminism is not as cohesive a thing as its detractors make it out to be. Someone mentioned (maybe earlier in the thread) that there is debate about what feminism is even among feminists. Any critic of feminism ought to keep this in mind; maybe they themselves are simply feminists who take a different stance than the people they are criticizing.
