It's almost as if magic book was hastily cobbled together from disparate fairy tales for a practical purpose that didn't require narrative continuity.
Since all of the biblical stories are based upon the real Ten Commandments found in Exodus 34:10-28 they are examples of what happens when they are obeyed or ignored. Every issue has a counter-point example. It's a really well-written piece of literature that was written by English writers in the 690s. It's the gold standard for fairy tales.
