Jesus said "Pick up your cross and follow Me".
stauros translated "cross" is a stick, especially one with a point at one end--stake. Jesus merely said that if you want to be my disciple(student) then you must 'pull up (tent)stakes' and follow Me or you will not have all the info because I got places to go and people to see and I ain't goin' to be here tomorrow.
Yet, you cannot believe how much Christianity has turned that simple pre-cross phrase into the rocket science of bearing crosses!
This is also how I view the doctrine of the "Trinity"--also completely stupid!
From the viewpoint of the God-Man's humanity, He prayed to His Father. From the viewpoint of His Deity, He is the Father. The Head of the house. The "I AM"! We are the house.
Except your boy didn't speak Greek. He spoke Aramaic.

It spread among the Germanic barbarians who overran the Western Roman Empire. In 410 the Arian Goths sacked Rome and how much better the world would have been if they had wiped out the catholick assholes who were exerting their bullshit over Italy. Oh well....such are the failings of history.
Nonetheless, the trinity was not so much "revealed" as it was imposed by the Eastern half of the empire. War, not scripture, determined how your bullshit succeeded.
Ssssshh! Don't confuse him with facts. This isn't a factual conversation, Min. We're supposed to be talking about the Trinity.
I can't help myself.
