You can only be accepted for what and who you are in the moment, without any changes, otherwise it isn't acceptance at all.
Christ gave the parable of the Shepherd who left the fold and went after the lost one.
God is interested in those who have nothing to offer except themselves as they are, without modification.
Because as soon as a change is required for love, it is no longer love, but a perverse recruitment.
