Here's the thing. Cases are built on precedents. If you make an exception 'because it's MLK and he was a minister', you open the door to other exceptions for events held by cities using a public school as a venue. Lots of American heroes were staunch Christians or made out to be so after they died. Why not a religious song and a little sermon when they're honored? Fundamentalists have repeatedly shown what they will do if given an inch. The FFRF can't afford to not sweat the small stuff when it comes to separation of religion and government.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
