As WW1 showed to awful effect, the opposite is most likely true. As Fred Clark of Slactivist fame said, that war in fact showed that there "were few christians leaving the trenches".

That war was probably the death blow to christianity in Europe, it exposed the preachings of the various denominations and sects as nothing but empty hot air.

So............ they were talking out their asses?

Honestly, I wouldn't give the religionistas that much credit.
