It's really hard to discern that he was pointing out that most voters disagreed with your assessment, so I get why you need it spelled out.

Her favorables were in the 30's.  If you offer someone the choice between a pile of dogshit and a 3 day old hotdog, a lot of people are going to pick the 3 day old hotdog.  The only conclusion to be drawn from that, is people think a 3 day old hotdog is better than a pile of dogshit.
