I had a paternal uncle who used to take his wife to the grocery store, because she never learned to drive. Long story about that, but- I went by the grocery store and saw my uncle sitting in the car, just sitting there. The car radio wasn't even on. My aunt was in the store doing the weekly grocery shopping, but he wasn't in there, helping in any way. My dad didn't help my mother shop for groceries, but he worked second shift and was asleep when my mom went to the store. He didn't sit there in the car like a bump on a log. Just an alternative explanation for that behavior.
