Other bad shit happens so do nothing about this...... Nope, sorry, that is bullshit and a dodge. Vehicles are not intended to kill, firearms are.
And with vehicles there ARE laws that make you prove you can handle the responsibility BEFORE you get a licence. There are laws that can take your license away for speeding, reckless driving and especially drunk driving. There are even RECALL protocols for defective designs, and the ability to sue the car company for producing such. You can own a vehicle but you cant drive a Indy 500 open wheel car, or a Monster Truck show truck on a public road. And even though car companies can be slow to change, they are far more likely to work towards more safe products. Car companies are now working on censors to prevent you from hitting objects around you. Now while they are not 100% effective right now, that is far more than the NRA advocates for in a "smart gun". If you own a firearm, why the hell would you not want one that nobody else can use? Car security is way ahead as far as chipped doors and key chains that need to be near the car or in the car before it will start. And just like a car, if your car gets stolen it can be tracked. Why wouldn't you want a stolen gun to be tracked?
No one, except ISIS jihadis and psychopaths, gets behind the wheel of a vehicle with the "intent" of killing others. So you just ignore that growing mountain of mutilated corpses because it doesn't fit your definition of what the intended use of an object is? How convenient, but the body count keeps growing. How are those laws regarding vehicle responsibilities working on slowing the growth of that mountain of mutilated corpses? Your knowledge of smart guns, and the NRA's position on them, is purely left-wing-uninformed. Your simplistic questions clearly reveal that you have not put any effort into researching the subject (that means the positions of BOTH sides) that doesn't fit your preconceived, feel good, knee jerk notions.
