I just kind of feel out of place here sometimes. I feel like I don't understand most people, and most don't understand me. I have always found social norms and behaviors confusing, though I've gotten better at fitting in or whatever.
That's whay subcultures are for, I've found. So many different ways to live and choices to make in this life, other than the mainstream way of living. When I was a kid, I always wanted to be an adventurer and felt like I didn't belong. Little did I know that is an actual choice you can make in life.
I've always admired that about you CapnAwesome, that you had a dream and are now living it.
When I was young I believed that I should have been born in the late sixties.
I would sit around with older people and listen to the stories of their youth wishing it were me.
Those were the good old days they'd say, it'll never be the same.
Lately I've captured the imagination of a few teens I work with, with stories from my youth.
Live bands I saw in the eighties, drunken escapades, beautiful women, drugs, fashion, etc.
It occurs to me that you have to live in the present.
Deep down, we are all the same and it seems that the state of mind is the only real restriction.
Though changing your state of mind is the near impossible part.
