Allowing a being as powerful as Satan to try and trick people away from God (or whatever he is supposed to do) is rather unfair, isn't it? God expects mere mortals to see through and fight this magical being? It's clearly tricking millions of people into the wrong religion for starters, and who exactly can blame them, when God just sits back and does nothing.
In the Bible, you actually don't' see a lot of "magical powers" from Satan. I think you may be arguing more the stuff of cartoons, rather than the scriptures.
