It's all very conflicting.

I’m going off on a tangent here but I do like to keep a good edge on this particular ax. You brought it on yourself by using “moral high ground”. That makes me think of the xtian lust for moral exceptionalism. Of course in the US they mostly suck at it, but they would all like to think they’ll be in the rank of the moral best once they’re foregiven.

But I don’t want that. On my grave stone (not that I’d have one) I’d like it written “he wasn’t such an asshole”, “wasn’t a moral narcissst”, that sort of thing. But I’m not looking to win any moral events. No medals for me. Rather in my obit let it be said he didn’t let moral obsessions distract him in his pursuit of aesthetic pleasure and meaning.[/rant]
