It would make for an interesting headstone.  I think, though, that you probably do want to feel that your actions fall within a comfortably moral range.  Both "he wasn't such an asshole" and "wasn't a moral narcissist" are moral awards...moral accolades.   You beat the assholes and the narcissists.  Those declarations establish a relative high ground between you and whomever falls into the other sets of "was such an asshole" and "totally unbearable narcissist".

You crack me up but also keep me grounded. I actually do recognize some narcissist tendencies but I’d like to think I’m in remission. Least wise I don’t happily serve them and will walk them back when they get out of hand.
