YES.
Not interested 'what if' only in 'what is'. True believers are seldom persuaded by reason or evidence.Solid empirical evidence would have no impact on the loons who believe the world is 6000 years old, regardless of over a century of increasing evidence to the contrary.
I don't claim to know.
I have observed that if the brain is physically injured,so too is the mind. That can be demonstrated using scientific method.eg the notorious example of the lobotomy.
I have become pretty much convinced that the mind is not a thing but a process, the dynamic of the living brain, with no objective existence.
In "The Book On The Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are", Alan Watts states;"There IS no ego". I suspect he may be right.
Unfortunately, I'm not overly confident that anyone here will come up with a solution to the controversy which is the mind/body dichotomy.

Well let's see evidence is usually a good start, after they run a gauntlet of lab hamster like tests on these guy's we'll get some scientific answers.
From that I will form my opinion.
Failing this I will revert to the Goddidit default position (not).
Heh. A guy with no brain and an IQ of 126? Nothing to it. It's merely . . . Get me some real evidence and then we can talk. Looks like your opinion is formed just fine. Calcified, seemingly.

Yes.
There is no evidence for anything other than the brain being the whole story.
How does group mind fit into this pov, say that exhibited by birds, insects, fish and all that?
While we're at it, how do you explain this?: http://bit.ly/11tetq
It's gonna be tough slapping the "it's merely" tag on that one. A slime mold with no brain exhibiting memory and anticipation? Nothing to it.
