Not all immigrants are treated equal. Thousands (probably, more) scientific studies prove this. Looking at your pic for the last 3 or so months (and, your previous one), I would have never guessed that you were unAmerican (or, even, the first generation daughter of immigrants.)
I know not everyone is treated well. It sucks that Jack had/has such a hard time with it. People can be assholes.
As for my picture not looking unAmerican... Growing up, everyone knew we were unAmerican. Not by how we looked, but by my parents' heavy accents and the fact that we were open about where we were from.
Like I said, I think location has a lot to do with it. We just weren't in a part of the country or in an environment with people who hated immigrants.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
