Regarding Food
First and foremost, what Americans think of as pudding isn't pudding, it is custard, which is sometimes put on or in a pudding. All desserts are puddings, but not all puddings are desserts. If it helps, what you think of as pies are something we might consider putting pudding on. That being said, what we think of as pies are almost never desserts, are sometimes puddings, and are more likely than not to be savoury. For clarity's sake, there are some pies that are indeed puddings, such as mince pie. Mince pie is made with mincemeat, which contains no meat, but doesn't contain mince, which does. It is acceptable to put what you think of as pudding on this type of pie which is itself a pudding.
Above, I mentioned that not all puddings are desserts. Two classic examples are black pudding (which contains blood and is fucking delicious) and white pudding (which contains no blood yet still manages to be fucking delicious).
Moving on. There seems to be some confusions about the difference between chips and French fries. Nothing could be simpler - chips are chipped potatoes that are fried, whereas as French fries are fried chipped potatoes. Duh. (Actually there is a difference - chips tend to be much thicker)
Bread roll, bun, dinner roll, bap, cob, barm, kaiser roll, bread cake, barm cake, batch, muffin, softie, and buttery all mean the same thing (depending your county of origin. Or even your street of origin.
