You are silly to separate the two because it is by a better understanding of the theory that the practice is able to be applied more effectively.  

Stuff like the theory of gravity and the theory of evolution are examples of theoretical science that are clearly correct. And there are many many more. I am by no means an expert but anyone even mildly intelligent is able to see how much sense, say, evolution makes.

OMg.. Seriously just 20 years ago if you removed the line between applied and theoretical science you would be touted as a joke in ANY institution of higher learning. Why? because it is fringe bullsit based on what a pop culture of egg heads want the universe to be. There are no rule there are no boundries. Money/funding drives the truth of theoritical science Look up the cern super colider that is where theoritical science was forced into the real world and it cost billions of euros to find out that the B/S those egg head were telling people was false.

You should never loose objectivity and combine theoretical science with applied science, because you open yourself up to propaganda on an uncheck scale. all anyone need do is package anything they want you to believe ina theoretical wrapper and your little preprogramed mind will think it gospel truth. That is why I say 'science' has become the new God.

Give me one example of where we once had a scientific explanation for something that was not only shown to be wrong but was replaced by a more accurate explanation from religion. Many times it's happened the other way around.

Actually I can think of several, get ready to eat some crow.. speaking of crow let's start dietary laws in the OT that proved to be better for us than what we ultimately compiled/recognized as the food pyramid. In fact the OT jew would be eating more of a 'paleo' diet while through out the 50 60 70 and 80 were we told to eat a carb, based diet. (being the bottom step of the pyramid) that was a big scientific fail that has come back to the bible.

another big thing was the bible pioneered the idea that everyone was equal before God and as a christian we were to treat even slaves as brothers and sisters.. this was NOT how the world work/works now, aside from a few who truly take this to heart. even up to the 50 and 60 the idea that hitler made popular in the 40's was the idea of some races being superior to others through breeding/evolution. that's a big time 'science' got it wrong.

Another OT example was written in law to quarantine the sick or infected. this was contrary to the way lived up until the late 1700's and even then gathering to help the sick was a practice that help spread disease up into the 19th century

Can pretend society did not take the opposite view of the bible on any of these things touting the bible as being obsolete i the face of all might science... now here comes science back and douche bags like you who apparently doesn't even know what is in the bible claim that it is 100% wrong because you 'feel' that way.. then you have the balls to challenge me to proove you right... seriously?

I can think of world wide missions long term... meaning when the camera's stopped in haiti and all the movie sars moved on and the red cross drops off because they exceeded their budjets for that region for the year, who remains? The various church out reaches and missions. I am still being asked every week to put money in the plate for hati. while most of you don't even know it still look like New orleans after katrina in places.

you said 100% church fails... the church is involved in those things. to me those outreaches can not be counted as part of a 100% fail.

There is one example where the church does not fail 100% of the time.. and I can think of at least 10 more off the cuff locally.. from inner city reading programs, inner city camps, benevolence out reaches/food and critical bill help, drug programs, free consoling marriage, drug, depression ect..

None of that has anything to do with reality.
