If I was going to create a religion, that is precisely what I would include to make people dismiss other religions. Careful and critical analysis of fiction writing has come a long way in disproving religious belief and religious writings as truth.
Let's not forget the fact that if there was indeed one true god, he would have been smart enough to not allow for any competition.
Evidently this is a flaw of humans. They never think this religious stuff through at all.
