The question in the OP and the thread title uses the term 'Our', lumping the entire species together as if they should have some common goal. One has to point out (as has been done by others) that 'purpose' as viewed by the individual is an inherently subjective thing and differs from one to another. For one individual to say that the basic biological drive to procreate is somehow 'our' primary motivation in life is absurd and shows a lack of understanding of the basic human condition, no offence intended of course.
We could talk about all the different 'purposes' assigned to life; service of the creator, service of the species and rational self interest etc . . . as well as philosophies which identify no objective purpose. In all this though we will come against the same stumbling block thinkers have been falling over since the debate began. Everyone sees it a different way, being in the realm of each individuals consciousness and intelect its subject to the liberty of thought that defines our species.
