I think it's really sad that religion can normalize threats so much that "do what I say or Jesus will kill/torture you" is seen as acceptable. I wonder if he'd see threats from a Muslim the same way?
Let me write a little play, in a similar vein to the Matt D sketch.
"Hi, can I help you?"
"There's a sniper in the city! He's shooting people who don't do what he says!"
"Wow, really? What does he want people to do?"
"Wear red hats and walk backwards."
"Why does he want us to do that? Never mind, thank you for the warning. I'll watch out for him."
"Isn't he amazing?"
"Who?"
"The sniper! He loves us so much."
"What!?"
"Let's go shout out how wonderful he is, together."
"You're nuts. Goodbye."
