Why would I bother when, as you yourself claim, God will forgive me my ignorance if I simply ignore your holy books?
I said you won't be accountable if you have no reason to do study it and that it's not properly presented by Muslims today. That is how I understood your statements. I don't know if you do or not. Perhaps you should get this question of whether God exists or not, settled first.
If you turn away from it because you think it's true, that is different from turning away from it if you think it's crap.
I don't see your heart and don't know.
That said, if you think it might be it, the true guidance, then you are obligated to find out and do your best, and whatever conclusions you come up with due to the distortion of the proper translations and interpretation that lead you away from it, may or may not be your fault.
If you don't find reason to believe it's from God, because, you don't have access to the hadiths of Ahlulbayt (as) manifesting it's wonders, and I'm not sure if enough has been translated for that I can't blame you.
If you turn away from the path of searching for knowledge all together, then you are condemned.
Right now I believe you are a seeker of knowledge, but are very hasty in drawing conclusions.
With your haste, I don't think Quran can benefit you much with that habit and you have to work on that.
