Theres no compulsion to do so..it;s not a requirement of law - yet another bit of messaging.
The Deporter in Chief (Obama) did try it, but got stymied by flores..which is exactly whats going to tank this current attempt...and instead either let people loose while they awaited their hearings or..sometimes, put them in ankle jail. Whats frustrating is that there isn;t a single iota of truth about this whole sad affair coming out of the administration.
- not even the "it;s a deterrent" thing that everyone thinks is the quiet part said out loud. They know it;s not a deterrent.
I feel like ranting. Lets consider why this visit by the first lady might be more insulting than consoling.
This administration had precisely two reasons to do what they did.
The first was financial. The people housing trumps stolen children are making a mint..they were some of his biggest campaign backers..and the plan to reimburse them for that support actually -has- been in the works since the moment he took office. This is a matter of public record.
The second was to inflict maximum cruelty in an effort to throw red meat to his base after their consistent failure to achieve their goals and in the face of scandal after scandal and the ongoing investigation of russian fuckery in the 2016 election as they approach the midterms. They needed -something- for the nativists to rally to. I;m tired of pretending that we don;t have a white supremacist in chief, or a white supremacist at the head of the doj, or a white supremacist writing immigration policy.
So yeah, Melon..turn up to your white supremacist husbands business partners kiddie kennel trash palaces. Show us how wonderfully this is all going.
