I can't see the picture you posted unfortunately. He's probably trying it on because he knows that you aren't German and therefore won't necessarily know your rights. Maybe get your husband to ask his colleagues what rights he has. Most German flats come unfurnished, as in not even a kitchen sink, so I don't personally know what it's like renting a furnished flat. The thing about the Germans though is that they do tend to forget the human aspect of it all. Like problem -> solution without taking into account how a person needs to live with that solution for example. As the joke goes, it's the only country to collectively suffer from Aspergers.

By the way just a word of advice, do try to avoid signing up for anything more than you have to as it can be a real pain cancelling contracts. Always check what kind of notice you need to give well in advance of cancelling it (as in months). Sometimes it works really smoothly. Other times it can be an utter nightmare. Even the Germans have to deal with that shit. Their bureaucracy can be monstrous.

Oh and sign up to toytowngermany.com if you haven't already but always make sure to do a proper search before asking a question. It's full of English speakers living in Germany but they get arsey with people asking the same questions all the time. They will be able to suggest what you should do.
