Think about this: if you believe that god has some sort of master plan for your life, then your prayers are pointless because you are essentially asking the divine one to alter his plan for you and that isn't part of "The Plan".
Additionally, giving thanks for him saving you from a tragedy where someone else suffered or died (think car accident or weather related tragedy) is stupid because clearly, his sadistic side kicked in if he "selected" others to die as part of "The Plan". That's not very loving, is it? So why would you thank god for anything along those lines, really? He may have saved your life, but he took someone else's. If you don't find that disturbing, something is wrong with you.
Thanking god because he helped you find your car keys? Please. You were simply diligent and persistent enough to find them. God didn't do squat. He didn't walk from room to room helping you did he? He wasn't physically there to put in any work required to actually find your keys. You did that. And - gasp! You did it while millions of children were starving and dying of hunger because in that moment, your car keys were so much more important to god than some kid needing to eat, right? If you really believe that he helped you find your stupid keys while letting innocent kids die of hunger and you don't see a problem with that, you need to seek professional help.
Come on, what innocent kids? Their ancestors ate the forbidden fruit, the poor kids are tainted with the Original Sin. But w can pray for their salvation.
It doesn't matter if He wasn't physically there. He provided moral support.
I liked the parts where these old yahoodies tolchock each other and then drink their Hebrew vino, and getting onto the bed with their wives' handmaidens.
