Yeah, you'd think so, but once you get used to texting it's a LOT easier.
It's also something where you don't have to respond right away, like email or an instant message. Also good if you're multitasking and there's no expectation of a delay-less conversation.
However, if nuance is needed, voice or video is way better IMO.
