The movie was a satire rather suddenly, when the director caught shit for putting that name on his movie.
The book is a sociological study of one possible way to engage the public in the running of a country. It ranks with "12 O'clock High" as a management training tool. I used both in the LMET classes. There's nothing of the book in the movie except the bad guys and bugs.
