Because 40% of America is no less crass, ignorant, superficial, anti-intellectual, egotistical, paranoid, lazy, avaricious, resentful of real dedication, suspicious of public mindedness, consciencelessly opportunistic, jingoistic and religious for feeling good only, devoid of any sense of irony, ungrateful, and craving of any confirmation however shallow and false, as trump.

I had issues with McCain but, if you compare him to what passes for republicunts today, he was head and shoulders above any of them.
No more damning a faint praise can be imagined than to describe someone simply as “head and shoulders above republicunts today”.
Even George W Bush qualifies for that lofty distinction.
