The main biblical word translated as "love" is agapE. Unfortunately unrealized, it has little to do with the English word 'love' which is a better translation for philos: to be fond. Whereas, agapE means to take an interest in another person in any capacity--whatever is needful for the moment.

There are four Greek words all translated as "love". But they are all distinct ideas. So, the English bible generalizes that which is specific. This is called confusion.

Here, in the Islands, we have the "aloha spirit" which is very much agapE. If anyone ever moves here, their capacity, to both give, and receive, WILL be challenged until they can prove their usefulness. Then you become a part of the Ohana(family) structure. You will be loved, cherished, protected and honored.
