In the good old US of A the average cost per litre is between $ 0.70 and. $0.85. in the UK its £ 1:39. If our petrol cost 85 cents I reckon there would be dancing in the streets.
Price today in GER: 1,5€/l = 6,80$/usgal

By the way: what happened here when gas got more expensive is people buying more andmore useless heavy 2t brocks called "SUV". "Why" you may ask? Because the auto manufacturers designed more efficient engines (like those common rail diesels). In effect the vehicles still use less pretol after having increased in weight from like 1t in average to 1,5-1,8 (gonna get worse with electric vehicles). Of course with only 1t vehicles mileage nowadays would be insane, but hey, be honest, who wants to miss his extra cup holder or A/C?
