I've clearly shown that 'ism' denotes a system or ideology, to try and claim it means a 'condition' in this case does not apply because in reference to a person a 'condition' is a physical state; therefore one can indeed have atheistic ideologies, if not then atheistic religions cannot exist.
Yes the title is : Is atheism a belief?
And yet you seem preoccupied with the word "ism"
-ism is a suffix in many English words, originally derived from the Ancient Greek suffix -ισμός (-ismós), and reaching English through the Latin -ismus, and the French -isme.
[1] It means "taking side with" or "imitation of", and is often used to describe philosophies, theories, religions, social movements, artistic movements and behaviors.
[2] The suffix "-ism" is neutral and therefore bears no connotations associated with any of the many ideologies it identifies;
.....such determinations can only be informed by public opinion regarding specific ideologies.
Words ending in ism are often used to describe philosophies, theories, religions, social movements, artistic movements and behaviors.
The key word is often, not always.
Just because a word ends in ism doesn't automatically make it a theory or a philosophy or a religion or even a behavior.
I don't think you would describe atheism as an artistic movement, but according to the ism that you want to go by, it MUST be one.
And I'm telling you NO, it doesn't need to be one.
Words have meaning and the meaning of the word atheism is someone who doesn't hold the belief that a god exists.
Theism is a religion. It's not a behavior, nor is it an artistic movement. I wouldn't call it a theory either.
Atheism is recognized as a word with a particular definition.
Atheists are folks who are diverse in thought and rationality. The only thing they have in common is that they don't hold a belief that a god exists.
That's all.
There are some atheists who believe in ghosts and goblins and leprechauns.
You are cherry picking the end of a word and trying to make it into something it's not.
And you're doing it on purpose.
Atheism is not a belief and you already know that. You enjoy trying to debate something that doesn't need to be debated.
