Some of the events in Daniel are not thought to have taken place yet. If something didn't happen, then no reason to assume it can't or won't happen.
Irrelevant to the conversation between CDF and I, since CDF maintains that the events discussed have taken place. More to your general point, there is actually reason to conclude that the events of christian obsession will not take place.
The expectation is based upon a faulty interpretation of someone else's fairy tales about a different set of events that already have taken place.
