That seems more like desperation than an accurate summary of the mans work and credentials. Does rigorous biblical scholarship threaten your faith?
OFC, he's not the sole source, you'd have to argue that all biblical scholarship with respect to daniel and it;s development was, somehow..the product of "shills". Here again we have a situation in which everyone and all of reality, god..and magic book itself...all conspire against you....to what end? That seems a little extravagant, to me.
