Interestingly, when I was in Catholic grade school (early 1960's) I had to study a bowdlerized version of The St. Jerome Bible. Scenes like that were toned down considerably or entirely missing. For instance, the scene in which Lot slept with his daughters and got them pregnant had been expunged.
