I can see why it’s not a game for everyone. It’s pretty linear, short, and has little replayability, but mai gurd do I love that art style and music.
There was a diving game that I loved. "World of Diving." I found it to be very relaxing and it had a lot of objectives. I might've liked Abzu if I would've played it a bit more, but I never felt like I was accomplished much besides exploring. That didn't make it a bad game, but I wanted to shoot something after about 30 minutes. There are always games people swear by, but I guess people just like what they like. People ranting about Overcooked and Stardew Valley. To me, one was running around a kitchen, and the other was a bunch of walking. But I get why people like them though. Even though I wasn't into Abzu, I think they did a fantastic job on the game. I remember when it was still Early Access, I watched a video by the developer and he was talking about his vision for it and it was beautiful.
