A long time ago, I did get stumped by a pro lifer, a teen on top of that. I was at a breakfast with my mom and her friends and their kids. The subject came up and she faked a gun to my head with her finger, and said, "There I just aborted you". Stupid fucking argument.. She followed it up with, "Well aren't you glad you are here?" I didn't know what I do now, and did not have access to the internet, because it didn't exist back then, and I have to admit, it shut me up for the moment, because she was right, I was happy I was alive.
But, just like when bullies tease you in school, guys like me don't have a quick comeback. Not saying she was bullying me. Just in that I am the type of person it takes time to think about, and far too often with humans in a non structured debate, they take silence as a win if you don't respond. But it stuck with me, but after thinking it about it I could have come back with what I accept now, "I cant argue something that didn't happen." So while I am glad I am 52 and still kicking, even without abortion, a turn here, twist there, a faster sperm than me, someone else would have been born instead of me.
Humans really hate the idea that we are not an apex species, but merely a species with different attributes. We don't want to see ourselves as just as subject to the countless variables that lead to both life and death that all other life faces.
