No amount of accepting that the earth is billions of years old and life as billions of years old will change the fact that the adam and eve narrative is non factual. Further, old earth creationism will not be able to make it's "days" consistent, and will not be able to make it's "days" match with observed reality on top of that. Nothing happened the way the authors of magic book wrote it, they had no idea how any of it happened, and they had no means to come to such an idea in the first place. Any human being with two brain cells to rub together ought to realize that the authors of magic book getting that one wrong is about as surprising as a toddler not where knowing silicon chips come from or how to manufacture a cpu.
Worshipping magic book and worshipping a god are fundamentally at odds on this count. No amount of negotiating with reality by accepting one fact while denying another (or, in this case, a whole raft of others) will change that a god made you from monkeys, if a god made you at all. Your rejection of that god on those grounds of dissatisfaction is no more an argument in favor of your beliefs than it would be an argument in favor of an atheists lack thereof.
