I'd have to say that it's hard to separate largely because it is appealing to Christian sources and Christian concepts and Christian authorities. It would be hard for it not to sound like typical Christian talk/reasoning because that's basically what it is. If you were to draw that parallel with a secular discussion of Rowbowtham's river experiment, or some of the arguments in Zetetic Astronomy, you might draw a different conclusion.
