If you are going to be insulting, you might want to spend about 3 seconds with google to make sure you're right first.  Or, better yet. . . just don't be rude at all.


I've tried to make my posts as lucid as I'm able, but you seem to be taking this discussion into a negative place.  I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in going there with you.

It's a common misconception. Correctly, it is indeed "toe the party line" originating from the UK house of commons, I believe, but there are various other suggested origins. Nevertheless, all agree that "toe" is the correct verb to use.

Still doesn't get away from the fact that you are by definition an agnostic atheist.

As for "tow" vs. "toe," my impression until yesterday was that they are both in common usage, because they both make sense. "Toe the line" means something like step up, or stay in line with the party. "Tow the line" could be seen as doing the work-- i.e. pulling the party forward with an insistence on promulgating its ideas.

But in this case I got lucky, and it turns out that a guy who was treating me in a deliberately insulting matter was just dead wrong, and in a particularly embarrassing way. Nice break for me!
