The things that a person believes effect those other things. It's not exactly coincidental that certain political viewpoints dovetail with religious ones.It would be "thoughtcrime" if they only thought that shit, but they don't..they seek to act and set public policy based upon them. I understand why, and how, it's difficult for us to divorce our principles from our actions, but not impossible. Ultimately, that's one of the most compelling arguments for the restriction of religious nonsense. It's not even controversial. We allow people to believe whatever the hell they like. We restrict the actions those beliefs can legally support.
I would absolutely state that a person who punches you in the face is guilty of assault....but that doesn't mean that you don't have a punchable face, lol. It's one of those situations where you high five someone -while- sending them to jail.
