At some point they WILL ask you for money.
A legitimate person will have your name, the name of the hospital and the name of the injured person--THEY give you information you Do NOT give them information. Now, that's my opinion and policy. I have no investment in your acceptance or non acceptance.

Well yes, it's a generalisation. I read it as a cautionary tale against arrogance, which you seem to have missed.
Another scam I've had contact me me was a person claiming they were from Microsoft and that there was a problem with my PC..I know MS don't make such calls. Besides, I have a Mac. But my sister got panicked, and luckily rang me on her mobile phone before giving out any information.
Not all people are as smart or informed as you. That does not mean they deserve to be conned.
