Wouldn't the new William Joyce actually have been Nick Griffin? At any rate, IIRC, it looks like Farage actually got further than Mosley did. Then again, I could be wrong; my main source for information on Mosley is The Code of the Woosters.
The BUF had near to 2m voters at one stage, and long into the war enjoyed the support of Lord Rothermere and his Daily Heil. Only for the war and the vagaries of FPTP he'd probably have had a long career propping up the Tories.

Do you actually know what a classical liberal actually is?
It's a man (women not allowed to have politics, hurts their teeny-weeny brains don't you know) who favours free markets, no social protections for the poor, no regulations on business, regressive social policies and a religious tolerance that only extends to (barely) tolerating catholics and dissenters, atheists muzzers &c are right out.

The skeptic movement on youtube was immensely helpful in this regard. For the past few years it's been the most productive entry point for alt right radicalization as introductory grooming. People thoroughly in and acclimated to the alt right recognize this pipeline and milestones on the pipeline. It happens in a way that the subject being groomed doesn't even realize where they're headed. They think that they're skeptics, or that some presenter in question is a skeptic. Rinse and repeat with socialists, environmentalists, rationalists, independents, etc. The trick is to take some positively valued thing or movement and tie it into mainline alt right ideology so that rather than seeing the alt right for what it is, the notions expressed seem to lead inexorably to the quiet parts that we don't say out loud. That moment when you decide which pill to swallow, lol.
Contrary to popular belief, the alt right isn't full of rightwing nutballs, it targets the disaffected left. The rightwing nutballs..cuckservatives... are perfectly content, by and large, with their preexisting conditions and platforms. This is why it's not actually surprising to find someone call or consider themselves a "classical liberal"* while spreading alt right propaganda - or for some solidly left leaning person to fade into social obscurity and return two hairs away from full on chimp-mode. It would be much more surprising for that to happen to a traditional right leaning conservative. It's also, as a movement, much more successful than people realize. We only notice the headline manifestations and it's visible presence on the internet, but a majority of america, for example, accepts some or all of the alt right platform - with most of them not realizing that it -is- the alt right platform.
There is, ofc, infighting in the alt right, and pointing to the warring factions of the alt right and their little disputes doesn't do anything to eliminate the alt right propaganda that a given rep has peddled. It's just another manifestation of the ideology seeking to distance itself from negative classification.
*fwiw, people forget that "classical liberalism" was an implicitly bigoted paradigm that spawned neocons and "reagan dems", lol.
It's a policy that has a long heritage. The Nazi ranks (especially with the brownshirts) was filled with disaffected old fighters from the Socialists and Communists.
The only difference between Nazis and the modern neo-Nazis is that at leas the Nazis were proud of their politics. The modern ones are very scared of publicly announcing their ideology.
