GOT isn't high fantasy it's gridy full of Political intrigue  Human drama , any really supernatural stuff is sparse and more toward the end

I never called it "high fantasy"... regardless, your "alternate" description does nothing for my interest in the show. It's made for the masses, i.e. scantily clad women, naked women, naked men, drama, politics, betrayal, blah blah blah. Not interesting to me.

What you described is high fantasy and not sure what you mean by "made for the masses " And all the things you describe make up 90% of TV and Movies .
