Yeah, a gun would be handy. Which is why there aren't ax-wielding maniacs anymore. They all have guns.
That's a fair point. Suppose the axe-wielding maniac is a gun wielding manic and shoots you through the door or the window before you even know he's there. He can then retrieve his axe from the boot of his car and dismember you at his leisure.
