It’s yet another cult.

The only difference between a cult and a religion, is that religion has acceptance, popularity and political power. Every religion starts out as a cult, the ones that survive learn to market and adapt.

Well, that and the whole "cloning the guru" aspect I wrote about in my post on the previous page.

It’s a shame that phrase isn’t more common, especially in the context of cults. It’s a pretty damn apt comparison for what’s happening in cults, especially since one of the main themes of Going Clear is that, far from “clearing” the world of all it’s hangups, it basically turns its followers into LRH, mental problems, possibly up to and including the possible schizophrenia, and all.
